If you’re interested in an education minor, the UAteach program allows students to take a 1-hour academic “try out teaching” course on Thursday mornings.
There’s still time to enroll in ARSC 1201: Inquiry Approach to Teaching, the Step 1 course for a UAteach minor.
“This course will help you decide if you’d like to add teaching secondary math, science, or computer science as a career option to your STEM degree,” said UAteach Director Shawn Bell.
This semester the course will be hybrid, with in-person sessions or remote classes.
“You’ll learn instructional strategies for engaging students in learning STEM subjects in this fun and interactive course,” Bell said. “The usual practicum component of interning in local schools has been cancelled for this semester, but you’ll still have opportunities to create your own lessons and teach to your in-class peers.”
