Nearly 150 students participated in the traditional pinning ceremony of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing on Friday, Dec. 17, the evening before their University of Arkansas Fall 2021 Commencement on Dec. 18.
The ceremony was conducted at Randal Tyson Track Center, led by Susan Patton, Ph.D., chairperson of the school.
Julian Alvarez received the Clinical Excellence Award, while Lauren Wintz delivered the keynote address.
The rite honored the 147 recipients of a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing, including 37 who this fall semester completed the Registered Nurse-to-B.S.N. program and 20 who finished the Licensed Practical Nurse-to-B.S.N. program.
The pin itself is oval with the name of the school, “BSN,” the bell tower of Old Main and a Razorback.
In the program, the acknowledgements listed Lewis and Donna Epley, Peggy Parks, the school’s Student Nurses’ Association, the College of Education and Health Professions, the Alumni Association, and the “health care systems and community agencies in Northwest Arkansas and beyond that provide more than 99,000 hours of clinical education for the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing students annually.”
