Her clinical experience includes 24 years in a local hospital, serving as a medical-surgical nurse, nurse manager, relief supervisor, clinical educator and community health programming director. She worked at a large non-profit community center for 13 years supporting local efforts to promote heart health, reduce youth tobacco use, support breast cancer patients and supervise local health education classes and events.

Henderson has been an academic advisor since 2012 and has taught the University Perspectives first-year orientation course since 2013.

Henderson won the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award from the university’s Academic Advising Council in April. The winners were nominated by their departments and selected from a pool of nominees. Each winner is described as dedicated to helping students, understanding institutional policies, monitoring student progress and building rapport with students and colleagues across campus.
