The college finished strong this spring with a string of fun festivities and celebrations to mark the end of the academic year.
More than 100 students were recognized at an awards banquet – the college’s largest celebration of student achievement aside from commencement – including the college’s top Henry G. and Stella Hotz and Presidential Scholar Awards.
Nine members of the college’s superior staff also received awards for consistently going above and beyond to serve the college, students and community. Dean Kate Mamiseishvili also bestowed the inaugural Service to Arkansas Award to the Early Care and Education Projects, an outreach unit in the college that has delivered professional development to early childhood educators in the state for over 30 years. The staff members were recognized alongside the college’s outstanding faculty award winners at the end-of-year meeting on Friday, May 3. Nine faculty members earned awards based on their remarkable dedication and contributions to the college or the honors program.
That evening, the college hosted a celebration at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, capping off another successful academic year. Great food, company, and music made for a beautiful event.
The momentum carried the college along to commencement at Bud Walton Arena on Saturday, May 11, where faculty and staff cheered on the more than 650 undergraduate students who walked across the stage. Hundreds of graduate students participated in the university’s commencement exercise that morning.
