Faculty and staff members in the College of Education and Health Professions are turning to the wisdom of one of television’s most recognizable coaches for a special upcoming leadership workshop.
Guided by the wit and insights from the television show Ted Lasso, this spring’s WE CARE Speaker Series event will be led by Marnie Stockman and Nick Coniglio, leadership coaches and co-authors of the award-winning book Lead It Like Lasso.
The workshop will be held on Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. in the Grad Ed Auditorium (GRAD 163). The event is open to the public and campus community, but space is limited, so those interested must RSVP.
Attendees do not need to have read Lead It Like Lasso or seen the show to participate, though many members of the college’s faculty and staff have been reading the book in preparation for the workshop.
In addition to the Lead It Like Lasso workshop, Stockman and Coniglio will meet with the College of Education and Health Professions’ Staff Council and First-Year Faculty Engagement and Networking program for more intimate leadership sessions throughout the day.
The book draws from the show’s characters and memorable moments to outline lessons for leadership that the authors hope can be “applied to the board room, the locker room, the classroom, and the living room.”
Stockman began her career teaching math to high school students and worked for an EdTech company before taking on the role of CEO of Lifecycle Insights, an organization she founded with co-author Coniglio, who also has extensive experience working in IT. Both authors actively pursue various endeavors relating to their writing and work in technology.
This lecture is the fourth in the ongoing WE CARE Speaker Series, a key action item of the impactful research priority of the college’s WE CARE strategic plan. The series features lectures by prominent scholars with broad appeal in education and health, professional development meetings, and networking opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
